Dear Friends of NativityMiguel:
The uncertainty of our current world situation has been overshadowed by the commitment of our school community to the education of our students. You can remain proud of being a part of this extraordinary mission.
Our Response: Last week, our teachers worked together as a strong team to generate an educational program for our students. By Tuesday, we had been in personal touch at least once with each of our very grateful families. Their willingness to come into school and pick up the students’ instructional packets was a testament to their commitment to the education of their children.
By Wednesday, 100% of our students had what they need to continue learning over the next several weeks. In addition, by Friday, our amazing staff had reached out once again by email and phone to each family. We have also started a resource page on our website where our families can go for news and updates. Finally, I’m excited to report that an on-line learning opportunity is proving successful, and we are looking into ways to expand these strategies to even more students.
How You Can Help: We have been heartened by the number of you who have reached out to us regarding the well-being of our students and families. Food service began last week at 28 sites in the City of Buffalo so our families continue to receive free breakfast and lunch each weekday. We are looking into ways for our tutors to remain in touch with their students, so if you are interested, please send me an email at
nlanger@nativitymiguelbuffalo.org and I will get back to you. You can also help keep us in the community eye by liking, sharing and commenting on our
Facebook and
Instagram accounts. And, importantly, please join us in prayer for our school, our city and our nation.
Scholars Awards Banquet Re-Scheduled to Wednesday, September 23, 2020: When CDC restrictions made it clear we needed to postpone the Scholars Awards Banquet scheduled for May 6, 2020, we initiated immediate discussions with the Buffalo Convention Center. With the very able assistance of current and past committee chairs, we decided to move the dinner to September. This will give us time to concentrate on our students and their welfare, while giving our supporters time to adjust to all that is going on. Hopefully, we will all come together after a great summer, with the stock market rebounding, business opening up again, and a way to combat this terrible virus.
Sponsorships, dinner and table reservations, patrons and program ads will be transferred to the September date. Any questions, please contact Amy Starck at
astarck@nativitymiguelbuffalo.org.Thank you: As always, we are committed to our mission and the well-being of our students. If you have any questions, please reach out to me. Again, we are so grateful for all you do for the NativityMiguel Middle School of Buffalo. Be safe, healthy and well.
Gratefully,
Nancy M. Langer
